For Childcare Matraville, and
Childcare Maroubra

An early childhood education for independence, preparing not just for school, but for life.

Montessori Works was established in 1991 by a small group of parents who wanted a high quality early childhood education for their children.

Since then we have been the pioneer and advocate for providing a Montessori philosophy and learning environment in a long day care setting for children from birth to six years. The objective is to provide an environment that supports the child’s learning, development of independence, self-confidence, and inner security.

The Montessori Way: A Learning Environment

We believe that your child learns best at their own pace and by exercising their own choice within an environment that has been prepared to engage interest so that each child engages in activities. We provide nutritious and delicious meals to support the children’s development. Providing a safe and fun environment is crucial for the kids’ learning, allowing them to explore, play, and learn joyfully.

The Montessori environment includes music and culture, art and craft, academic, physical and practical skills in which sustainability is totally embedded. The curriculum is holistic and is organised in multi-aged groupings 0-3 and 3-6 (2-5). It also focuses on enhancing social skills, promoting diversity and inclusion, and preparing children for school and life. Finally, we believe consideration for others is a core value in the process of guiding children’s behaviour.

Parent Information: Building Social Skills

Communication with parents is especially valued. We endeavour to include parents in all aspects of our program with weekly newsletters and daily opportunities to see photos, read observations, understand and contribute to cycles of planning and view curriculum decisions and give feedback. The centre manager plays a crucial role in ensuring friendly and responsive communication with parents. Parents are encouraged to engage with children in a range of activities so that our Montessori families reflect an inclusive community that supports children’s well-being. Many parents have shared positive experiences about the nurturing environment, even after they moved house.

School News

Each year families are invited to Meet and Greets: Harmony Day in March, the shortest day of the year in June is Disco Night, we celebrate the International Day of Peace in September and a final graduation and concert in December. Each term we host events to discuss aspects of our program. Mothers, fathers and grandparents are acknowledged with an open invitation for observing and interacting with their child on specific days throughout the year. These events often feature activities in small groups, allowing for a more personalized and intimate experience for families.

In our childcare centre, children transition from the nursery room to the toddler room, where they continue to receive excellent care and support. Parents often express their satisfaction with the nurturing environment and dedicated staff in the nursery room.
